(COA). McQuade is one of more than 1,500 private and public organizations accredited by COA. The agency is proud to have maintained COA accreditation continually since 1984.
COA is an international, independent, not-for-profit, child and family service and behavioral healthcare accrediting organization. COA was founded in 1977 by the Child Welfare League of America and Family Services America (now Alliance for Children and Families). COA currently accredits 38 different service areas and more than 60 types of programs. COA partners with human-service organizations worldwide to improve service delivery outcomes by developing, applying, and promoting accreditation standards.
In addition, McQuade's private Special Education school, “The Kaplan School” is accredited through the National Commission for the Accreditation of Special Education Services (NCASES). NCASES is an affiliate of the National Association of Private Special Education Centers (NAPSEC). NCASES was established in response to a need for private Special Education providers to have an accreditation process that uniquely addresses their programs and the populations they serve. McQuade's Kaplan School is the only NCASES accredited school in Orange County and it's surrounding counties. In January 2006 The Kaplan School became the first school in the United States to obtain jointly coordinated accreditation of both COA and NCASES. Currently, The Kaplan School is one of only three jointly accredited programs in the United States .
McQuade Children's Services views accreditation as a catalyst for change that builds on our strengths, identifies areas for improvement, and ultimately helps to achieve better results in all areas. Accreditation utilizes best practice standards and results in a diversity of ethnicities, cultures and viewpoints. Accreditation fosters an emphasis on continuous quality improvement and serves to reinforce the public trust in the quality of services provided to families.
